In April 1989, Sister Mary Virginia Clark realized her vision of a shelter for homeless women and their children. In the subsequent 34 years, the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) has seen over 2,475 women with over 4,387 children pass through our shelters. We have served over 38,500 individuals, with various basic needs, since 1989 and have given away over $893,000 worth of merchandise through our thrift stores.

Sister Mary Virginia Clark blessed us with a vision that continues to grow. We now serve countless families and Sister’s blessing continues with your support. May I call on you to join me at our DWC Spring Luncheon on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in the Heritage Room at the Civic Center?

Our theme this year is The Journey. The luncheon presented a video about the journey of DWC with a feature of special ladies giving their testimonies of “where they were and where they are now.”

This is our only fundraiser of the year. Your gift will support the continuation of our mission, to provide housing and services to overcome homelessness and addiction.
